Bega Valley Thrive

Sharing our Gifts

This site has been created as a context and a central meeting point to gather together online so that we can

  • Have a space online other than social media to find out whats happening
  • Get a sense of the richness of our community through being able to see peoples offering and gifts
  • Access local education and resources
  • Encourage intergenerational learning
  • Connect with others in beautiful and tangible ways
  • Network and co create with others

This simple vision has been directly inspired by the Confest festival that has been happening for over 30 years in north western Victoria. Confest stands for ‘conference festival’ and at the centre of the festival site is a series of blackboards that each day are filled with peoples workshops that are happening at various sites throughout the festival grounds. This website is our central blackboard where we can visit to find out whats happening in the valley and let people know what we are offering.

So many people are offering amazing classes and workshops from Pambula to Tilba. In this age where managing social media has become normal and somewhat effective to get the word out and to find out about things, its also important to check in with ourselves about whether scrolling, scrolling, scrolling and maintaining my pages are where I want to be putting my time and energy, not to mention the inquiry of whether its good for my overall well being to be spending so much time online for these purposes. Bega Valley Thrive offers us a local alternative.

This is a community-minded project designed to be a positive feedback cycle in serving our community on multiple levels and overall, to develop resources for a connected community and a resilient future living in this amazing place, the Bega Valley. While we are not a formal not-for-profit we will redistribute our profit to enable under 25’s to list their events and projects here for free. We are excited to explore other recipients for our profit sharing as we grow. I hope you are inspired to get involved.

With gratitude always, Radha (co founder)

Membership

We can’t wait to see what you are sharing with the Bega Valley.

Membership costs are intentionally low to encourage everyone to start using this online blackboard.

Once we cover costs, we will use surplus funds to support people under 25 to access free membership. We are excited to consider other ideas and social enterprise as we grow.
